KCS - How to Export Data From Time Matters

Objective:

  • To download data from Time Matters which can be uploaded to Clio
  • To prepare for my migration
  • How can I export data
  • Migrate from Time Matters to Clio
  • Get information out of Time Matters

Please note that success of any data migration depends primarily on the quality of the data set provided to us. Before attempting to migrate your information into Clio, you should ensure that your data is consistently formatted, well organized, sufficiently backed up, and stored securely. If you are not certain, it is recommended that you consult with your Clio representative before proceeding.

Procedure:

To export your contacts:

  1. Open Time Matters
  2. Click File
  3. Click Export
  4. Click Custom Export
  5. Select the third option Create a new Export Template
  6. Click Next
  7. On the page Select Export File Format:
    • Select ASCII - Comma Delimited (.TXT or .CSV)
    • Check Include field names labels as first record in Export
    • Click “...”
    • Assign the file a name and select a location, typically in c:\Clio Export\ (creating the folder Clio Export)
  8. On the page Specify Time Matter Record Type with the Export the following Record Type drop down menu choose Contacts
  9. On the page Select Pre-Merge Record
    • Select None
    • Click Next
  10. On the page Export Custom Forms
    • Select None
    • Click Next
  11. On the page Select Contact Export Fields
    • Click Add All >>
    • Click Next
    • When it asks about Archived Status, make sure to get Both non-archived data and archived data (unless preferences are otherwise)
  12. On the page Launch Application After Export:
    • Select No, do not launch an application
    • Click Next
  13. On the page Ready to Begin Export:
    • Select Yes. Save this Export Template
    • Click Finish
  14. When the export is complete, click OK

 

To export your matters:

  1. Open Time Matters
  2. Click File
  3. Click Export
  4. Click Custom Export
  5. Select the third option Create a new Export Template
  6. Click Next
  7. On the page Select Export File Format:
    • Select ASCII - Comma Delimited (.TXT or .CSV)
    • Check Include field names labels as first record in Export
    • Click “...”
    • Assign the file a name and select a location, typically in c:\Clio Export\ (creating the folder Clio Export)
  8. On the page Specify Time Matter Record Type with the Export the following Record Type drop down menu choose Cases
  9. On the page Select Pre-Merge Record
    • Select None
    • Click Next
  10. On the page Export Custom Forms
    • Select None
    • Click Next
  11. On the page Select Matter Export Fields
    • Click Add All >>
    • Click Next
    • When it asks about Archived Status, make sure to get Both non-archived data and archived data (unless preferences are otherwise)
  12. On the page Launch Application After Export:
    • Select No, do not launch an application
    • Click Next
  13. On the page Ready to Begin Export:
    • Select Yes. Save this Export Template
    • Click Finish
  14. When the export is complete, click OK

 

To export your events:

  1. Open Time Matters
  2. Click File
  3. Click Export
  4. Click Custom Export
  5. Select the third option Create a new Export Template
  6. Click Next

    • Click Add All >>
    • Click Next
    • When it asks about Archived Status, make sure to get Both non-archived data and archived data (unless preferences are otherwise)
  12. On the page Launch Application After Export:
    • Select No, do not launch an application
    • Click Next
  13. On the page Ready to Begin Export:
    • Select Yes. Save this Export Template
    • Click Finish
  14. When the export is complete, click OK

 

To export your task:

    1. Open Time Matters
    2. Click File
    3. Click Export
    4. Click Custom Export

      • Select None
      • Click Next
    11. On the page Select Task Export Fields
      • Click Add All >>
      • Click Next
      • When it asks about Archived Status, make sure to get Both non-archived data and archived data (unless preferences are otherwise)
    12. On the page Launch Application After Export:
      • Select No, do not launch an application
      • Click Next
    13. On the page Ready to Begin Export:
      • Select Yes. Save this Export Template
      • Click Finish
    14. When the export is complete, click OK 

 

To export your notes:

  1. Open Time Matters
  2. Click File
  3. Click Export
  4. Click Custom Export
  5. Select the third option Create a new Export Template
  6. Click Next
