Campaign Tracker allows you to track costs, leads, and ROI associated with your advertising and marketing initiatives. Tracking your marketing initiatives works in 3 ways:
Create a tracking phone number:
With Campaign Tracker you can generate local and toll-free phone numbers to use in your advertisements. Calls coming in to these phone numbers will be forwarded to the phone number of your choosing (i.e. your firm number or a personal phone number) and the caller will automatically be added to your Clio account as a lead. Leads will also be added to your Campaigns dashboard where the return on investment (ROI) for your campaign will be calculated for you as leads are converted to paying clients.
Manually track leads and costs:
Clio Campaign Tracker will also allow you to create a campaign for manually tracking the leads and costs associated with those initiatives that are not dependent on a phone number (i.e. walk-ins, referrals, unsolicited calls, etc.). When you create a manual campaign, you will be required to manually add leads and associate them with campaign. For steps on how to work with leads in Clio, see the "Working with Leads" article.
Add a web form to your website:
With Campaign Tracker, you can add a contact form to your website that is connected to a Clio campaign and creates a lead with each submission. This contact form includes fields for name, email, phone, and message. If you will be using a campaign tracking phone number in an advertisement or marketing initiative, you must generate the tracking phone number in Clio Campaign Tracker before creating the ad.
Note that Campaign Tracker can only generate phone numbers in the United States and Canada at this time.
To create a campaign, click on the "Campaigns" tab then click the "New Campaign" button.
In step 1 of the New Campaign wizard, complete the following:
- Name: enter in a name to represent your campaign (i.e. Google AdWords, Magazine Ad, Yellow Pages, etc.).
- Expenses: If you know the initial cost of the campaign and the initial billing period, you can enter that here as well. If you are unsure of the initial cost of the campaign, you can always add that information later.
- Additional Expense: Clicking to Add Additional Expense allows you to track fluctuating costs of your marketing campaigns over the months, or different specified periods.
- Click Upload to choose an image to be attached with your campaign for reference under the Campaigns tab.
In step 2 of the New Campaign wizard, decide if you will be generating a local phone number or a toll-free number. Next, select the country (United States or Canada) and specify the area code that you would like to use:
- If you choose a local phone number, you are able to specify any nationwide area code that you want to use.
- If you choose a toll-free number, we suggest starting with the 844 code as other toll-free codes have limited available phone numbers.
Once you have specified the number type and area code, click the "Search" button.
Clicking the "Search" button will present you with a list of available phone numbers for your area code. Click the circle button beside the number that you would like to use, then click "Next".
In step 3 of the New Campaign wizard, select the user (or "Firm") that the campaign phone number should be forwarded to. Clio Campaign Tracker allows you to forward each campaign that you create to a different member of your firm, allowing individual attorneys to track their own advertising initiatives.
When you select a user, the "Phone Number" field will automatically be completed with the phone number in that user's Clio profile. If a user phone number is not available, then this field will be populated with the firm's phone number. If you would like to change the forwarding phone number to something else, you can manually change the number in this field.
In step 4 of the New Campaign wizard, you will be provided with a summary of the campaign details. Click the "Save" button to generate the phone number and initialize the campaign.
Once you have saved the new campaign, you will see it added to your Campaigns dashboard.
To create a manual campaign, click on the "New Campaign" button and give your campaign a name. In step 2 of the New Campaign wizard, click the "Skip phone setup" link to bypass the phone generation process.
You will immediately be presented with the campaign summary. Click the "Save" button to create the manual campaign.
