Objective:

  • Migrate from Rocket Matter
  • Export data from Rocket Matter
  • Rocket Matter migration
  • Import data from Rocket Matter
  • Get data from Rocket Matter to Clio

Environment:

  • Clio Manage
  • Rocket Matter

Additional Information:

Please note that the success of any data migration depends primarily on the quality of the data set provided to us. Before attempting to migrate your information into Clio, you should ensure that your data is consistently formatted, well organized, sufficiently backed up, and stored securely. If you are not certain, it is recommended that you consult with your Clio representative before proceeding.

Additionally, there is a difference in how Clio and Rocket Matter handle closed matters. Clio registers a closed matter as a filter setting, whereas in Rocket Matter has this structured as a locked out matter. This means if there are any remaining time entries or expenses that weren’t billed and never intend to be billed on a closed matter, it will suddenly show up in bulk billing screen.

Answer:

Typically, the following data can be exported from Rocket Matter and imported into Clio:

  • Contacts
  • Unbilled Time Entries
  • Unbilled Expense Entries
  • Matters (limited)
    • Matter name
    • Matter client
    • Open/closed status
    • Open date
  • Matter Related Contacts
  • Outstanding Balances (limited)
    • The 'Current Balance' column in the exported Matters file can be used. This is a Matter level value and not invoice specific.
