KCS - Bills Won't Sync After Moving From QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

Issue:

  • QBO error 6140 
  • Exported from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online when using the integration all the bills errors to 6140

Environment:

  • Clio Web App
  • QuickBooks Online

Bills created after the export will sync with no issues as QuickBooks Online will accept the new invoice numbers that are generated by Clio. 

Cause:

When the information was exported out, the invoice number was also exported. Now that the invoices are imported into QuickBooks Online Clio see the invoice numbers as the same. The two will not sync due to this conflict. 

Resolution:

  1. Manually link the payment to the invoice within QuickBooks Online.
