Clio Grow and Clio Manage Integration: Converting Contacts and Matters

The integration between Clio Grow and Clio Manage allows you to work efficiently and visibly between the two systems to manage the entire client lifecycle from intake to invoice. You can manage your clients and cases by converting them and their data from Clio Grow to Clio Manage.

With Clio Grow, you can track leads, collect client information with online intake forms, send case-specific documents to clients for their e-signature, and export data to Clio Manage. Read this article to get started with Clio Grow and read this article for Clio Grow quick start tips.

Note: A contact can be a lead, client, company, or other business partner such as an attorney or accountant. A matter is a case, legal job, or responsibility that you have with your client.


Set Up the Integration

Before exporting your contacts and matters from Clio Grow to Clio Manage, you will need to connect your Clio Grow and Clio Manage accounts in your Clio Grow Settings. 

Note: Each Clio Grow user will need to connect their Clio Grow account to Clio Manage to use the Grow/Manage integration.

  1. In Clio Grow go to SettingsIntegrations.
  2. Under Clio click Connect.
  3. If you are not signed in to Clio Manage, sign in when prompted.
  4. Select Allow Access and wait for the page to reload.
  5. If your Clio Grow and Clio Manage accounts connected successfully, you will see a green Connected message next to the Clio box in Settings > Integrations.Screen_Shot_2022-03-03_at_11.20.03_AM.png

Did you know? You can navigate between Clio Grow and Clio Manage easily and quickly by clicking the Clio Grow/Manage dropdown in the top left of your Clio Grow/Manage header. Convert a Contact

This section explains how to convert a contact from Clio Grow to Clio Manage. When you convert a contact, the matter information will not automatically be converted. If you want to convert the contact and the matter, see the next section on how to Convert a Matter.

Before converting a contact from Clio Grow to Clio Manage, connect your Clio Grow and Manage accounts. For more information, see the section above on how to Set Up the Integration.

Note: Contacts and matters can only be converted one at a time. If you want to know more about which fields can and cannot be exported to Clio Manage, take a look at this article.

To convert a contact from Clio Grow to Clio Manage:

  1. In Clio Grow go to the contact.
  2. In the upper right click Convert to Clio Manage.
  3. Select Convert to send the contact to Clio Manage.
  4. View the contact in Clio Manage by clicking Open contact in Clio Manage or View in Clio Manage.

Convert a Matter

This section explains how to convert a matter from Clio Grow to Clio Manage. When you convert a matter, the contact information will automatically be exported. If you want to export only a contact, see the previous section on how to Convert a Contact.

Before converting a matter from Clio Grow to Clio Manage, connect your Clio Grow and Manage accounts. For more information, see the section above on how to Set Up the Integration.

Note: Contacts and matters can only be converted one at a time. If you want to know more about which fields can and cannot be converted to Clio Manage, take a look at this article.

To convert a matter from Clio Grow to Clio Manage:

  1. In Clio Grow go to the matter.
  2. In the upper right click Convert to Clio Manage.
  3. If you added any Related Contacts, enter relevant relationship information.
  4. Scroll down to complete matter-specific information, including Matter Description (required field), and optional fields of Matter Status, Practice Area, Responsible AttorneyOriginating Attorney, Location, and Billing Method.
  5. Click Convert matter to send the matter to Clio Manage.
  6. View the matter in Clio Manage by clicking Open matter in Clio Manage or View in Clio Manage.

Problems Exporting

If you are getting an error message when trying to convert a contact or matter, try disconnecting and reconnecting the Grow/Manage integration.

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Under Clio click Disconnect.
  3. Click Connect and select Allow Access when prompted.
