How Do I Create Activity and Expense Categories?

Objective:

Environment:

  • Clio Manage

Additional Information:

  • An Activity Category is a description of a Time Entry or Expense Category. For more information on Creating and Managing Activity Categories, see here
  • For information on how to edit an Activity Category, see here

Procedure:

For Time Entry Category:

  1. Go to Activities
  2. Click Manage categories in the upper right corner (grey button)
  3. Click New category in the upper right corner
  4. Select Time Entry Category
  5. Enter a Name
  6. Select a Billing Method, and input rate if applicable
  7. Set Permission Groups or check off Visibility to Co-counsel if applicable.
  8. Click Save category

For Expense Entry Category:

  1. Go to Activities
  2. Click Manage categories in the upper right corner (grey button)
  3. Click New category in the upper right corner
  4. Select Expense Category
  5. Enter a Name
  6. Enter a Rate
  7. Set any Permission Groups if applicable
  8. Click Save category
