What does "there was a problem recording your payment, please try again" error message mean when applying a Trust Payment to an Invoice?

  • Can't apply trust payment to invoice because of error message.

Answer:

There are a few reasons why this error may occur:

  1. One possible issue is insufficient funds in the Trust Account. Check that the Matter or Contact level has enough money to pay for the invoice.
  2. If the Matter Trust account has a negative balance and the Client Trust account has a sufficient balance, you will still get this error. To resolve this, transfer the Trust funds from the Client Level to the Matter Level.
  3. If you are trying to apply funds to a multi-matter bill using trust funds, the funds may be at a Matter Level and cannot be applied to all the Matters on the bill. Moving the funds to the contact level should resolve this.
