What Does 'Character Truncation' in the Matter Numbering Setting Do?

Objective:

  • To understand what character truncation is when creating a Matter Number scheme.

Environment:

  • Clio Manage

Additional Information:

  • n/a

Answer:

Character Truncation in the Matter Number settings is when a string of words is limited to display only a certain amount of characters.

For example, if Matter Description was selected in the scheme then an option to select Character Truncation would appear. If you selected a number value this would limit the number of characters in the Matter Description that would be displayed in the Matter Number.
