How to Make a Custom Field Required/NonRequired

Objective:

• How to Make a Field within Contacts Required
• How to Make a Field within Matters Required

Environment:

• Clio Manage

Additional Information:

• Only Administrators have the ability to create or edit Custom Fields
• Required Custom Fields have to be filled out in order to save a Matter or Contact
• You can set a field as Required without making it a Default field but in this case, there will be an option to "Remove" the field when you're creating or editing the Matter or Contact, so that you do not have to fill it out

Procedure:

1. Go to Settings
2. Select Custom Fields in the first column
3. Either remain in Matter Custom Fields or select Contact Custom Fields
4. Click Edit under the Custom Field
5. Check off or uncheck the boxes for both Default and Required depending on your preference
6. Click Save
