How to Apply a Credit to a Client to be Held in the Operating Account

Environment:

  • Clio Manage

Additional Information:

  • Entering a transaction in the Operating Account adds a credit to the account which can be applied to Bills once they have been generated and approved. This credit amount is reflected in the Running balance column of the Transactions subtab within the Contact/Matter.
  • Avoid including additional Matter information if you would like the credit to be applied to the Contact rather than the Matter.

Procedure:

  1. Go to the Contact/Matter where you would like to apply the funds
  2. Click the Transactions sub-tab
  3. Select the desired Operating Account from the ledger dropdown
  4. Click the New Transaction button towards the top right
  5. Enter the amount and any other relevant information 
  6. Click Record Transaction
