How Do I Fill Out The Contacts Import Template?


  • Import Contacts into Clio Manage
  • Bulk import Contacts into Clio Manage
  • Add Contacts Information to the spreadsheet template 
  • Populate Contacts CSV for import into Clio

Additional Information:

  • Do not modify the column headers as they are mapped into Clio
  • Contacts must be imported before Matters for them to be linked properly
  • The required fields are either First Name or Company Name
    • If both are present, a Person is created that is linked to that Company
    • If that Company does not yet exist in the system, then an empty Company is also created, and the Person that is created has all the other information (address, etc.).


  1. Open this template 
  2. Populate the spreadsheet with your Contacts information
    • title: Enter their title (i.e. Mr, Ms, Mrs)
    • job_title: Enter their job title
    • first_name: Enter their first name (Required)
    • last_name: Enter their last name (Required)
    • company: Enter their company name
    • business_street: Enter their street address
    • business_city: Enter their city
    • business_state: Enter their state
    • business_postal_code: Enter their postal code
    • email_address: Enter their email address
    • primary_phone: Enter their phone number
  3. Save the file in CSV format
  4. Import the file by following the steps below:
    • Open Clio's Import page:
      • For North American accounts, click here
      • For European accounts, click here
    • Click Add
    • Under Import select Contacts from Outlook CSV
    • Click Choose File
    • Select the CSV file you saved in step 3
    • Click Upload File
