Clio allows for a user to send Secure Messages (or "Communications") to contacts, clients, and even other users of their firm. The Conversations page is the location to view the entire conversation (thread) as well as participate in the conversation if you are one of the included parties.
Accessing the Conversations page
The secure messages conversations page can be accessed either via the global communications tab or from any individual contact or matter. First, locate the secure message from the communications tab and then use the dropdown to select View. You can also simply click on the Subject of the message to access the conversations page.
Viewing the Conversation
On the conversations page, you will be able to view all secure messages that have been shared in the thread. There are 3 main components to the conversations page:
1. Header
- Conversation subject
- Linked Matter
- Participants in the conversation
- Attached documents
2. Conversation
- Messages sent by each participant
- Date and time of the message sent
3. Reply field
- Message Reply
- Attach a document
Attaching a Document
Documents can be attached to a message. To do so click the attach a document button and upload a file from your computer to send with your secure message.
Shared documents will appear in the contact or matter folder, depending on whether the conversation is linked to a matter.
Conversation Permissions
In order to access a conversation, you must either:
- be a participant on the secure message thread, or
- have permissions to view the matter that is linked to the conversation
If you have permission to view the matter but are not a participant in the conversation, you will have view-only access to the thread but will not be able to send messages.
