Why Does a Custom Field Appear When Creating a new Contact or Matter?

Answer:

The Custom Field is set to be Default on all new Matters or Contacts or is set to be Required on all New Matters or Contacts. To prevent this Custom Field from showing up on new Matters or Contacts, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Custom Fields 
  3. Click Matter or Contact Custom Fields 
  4. Click Field Sets
  5. Click Edit underneath a Field Set if it Contains this Individual Custom Field
  6. Un-click Default in Field Sets
  7. Click Save
  8. Click individual Fields
  9. Click Edit underneath the Custom Field
  10. Un-click Default and or Required
  11. Click Save
