Yes, the following restrictions apply when creating custom fields:
- The Name of a custom field has to be limited to 32 characters
- One-line text field has to be limited to 255 characters
- Multi-line text field has to be limited to 64000 characters
- Picklist options are limited to 64 characters
- Money has to be two decimal places.
- Integer has to be to an integer.
