Please Note Changing Permissions for Groups or Users May Result in Loss of Functionality

Objective:

  • To understand the implications of changing permissions for a specific user or group.

Environment:

  • Clio Manage

Additional Information:

  • Changes to Permissions take place in one of two places within Settings:
    • Manage Users Permissions
    • Groups, Permissions and Job Titles Permissions

Procedure:

The permission levels outlined below describe the areas that are affected when you update Permissions. Removing any permissions will result in loss of functionality in these areas:

Administrator

Accounting

  • Accounting tab on the main navigation bar
  • Transaction subtabs in individual Matters and Contacts
  • Please note: you need either accounting or billing permissions to see the financial section of a Matter

Reporting

  • Reports tab on the main navigation bar

Billing

  • Billing tab on the main navigation bar
  • Billing tab within individual Matters and Contacts
  • Billing section in settings
  • Please note:
    • If you remove the billing permission from a user that is selected to receive ‘reply-to’ emails from Automated Bill Reminders, they will be reset to the Primary Subscriber.
    • you need either accounting or billing permissions to see the financial section of a Matter
