Anatomy of a Contact Card

The Contact Card has a lot of useful information. This article details the options available to you when managing your Contacts.

Contact Card Options

  1. Quick Bill: Click Quick Bill to instantly create a bill for this client.
  2. Trust Request: Click Trust Request to instantly create a Trust Request bill for this client.
  3. Edit: Click Edit to make any changes to the contact information.
  4. Delete: Click Delete to completely remove the Contact from your Clio account. Note that this is a permanent action.

Contact Tabs 

Matters

The Matters tab links all Matters where this Contact is a client.  You can create a new Matter from here by clicking on the "New" link.  For instructions on creating a new Matter, click here.   

Related Matters

This tab links contacts to matters where they are not the client, but have a relationship such as a Judge, Witness, Opposing Counsel, Spouse and so on.  To add a relationship to a matter, go to the "Related Matters" sub-tab in a contact card and click on "Add" and enter the appropriate information. 

Transactions

You can manage your Trust and Operating accounts within Clio.  The transactions tab will show you how much you are holding in the various ledgers on behalf of this Contact.

Notes

The notes tab within the contact view enables you to browse, create and modify notes in the context of the current contact. Notes can serve as a flexible information storage medium, and may serve different purposes in different practices.  The Notes field can hold hundreds of pages of information, so feel free to enter in as much as you would like! 

Documents

You can view and manage documents associated with the Contact here.

Bills

This sub-tab allows you to view and manage invoices for the Client. 

Communications

Communications allow you to attach emails, create phone logs and send internal/external secure messages and link them to contacts and to matters.   

Clio Connect

You can click here to view all the documents, bills, tasks, calendar events, and messages you have shared with the contact.  For more information on Clio Connect, click here

Profile Picture

For Contacts that are specifically Clio Connect users you can upload and Edit their profile picture.
