Creating Contacts

In Clio, you can have two different types of Contacts: Person Contacts and Company Contacts. To create a new Contact, click on the "Contacts" tab then click either "New Company" or "New Person".

Here you will be required to provide the name of the individual or company, and optionally as many email addresses, phone numbers, instant messengers, web sites and physical addresses as are desired. When creating a new "Person" Contact, you may wish to associate this new Contact with an existing company; the Company field will automatically search your list of existing Contacts for relevant results and present you with a list of options from which you can select. If the Company is not already among your list of Contacts a new Company record to be created in conjunction with the associated individual. 

Primary Email Address: You can enter multiple email addresses for your contact. By default the first address listed will be referred to on reports or on invoices as the contact's primary email address. If you enter more than one address and wish the primary address to be different from the first listed, select Primary Email next to the address you wish to display.
When creating the Contact, you can set an alternate country in the Address information. The country of your firm will automatically be included on the invoice if your Contact's country is listed differently.


Primary Phone Number: In addition to email addresses, you can enter multiple phone numbers for your contact. By default the first number listed will be referred to on reports or on invoices as the contact's primary phone number. If you enter more than one number and wish the Primary Phone Number to be different from the first listed, select Primary Number next to the number you wish to display.

Payment Profile: Select the Payment Profile regarding the payment terms you want applied, and set the optional Client Billing Rates if you need to specify a unique billing rate for the client.
