Task Lists: Understanding Task Dependencies

When adding a Task to a Matter, either individually or by assigning a Task List, the due date of each Task can be set in relation to other Tasks that have already been created. If you change the due date of a Task that other Tasks are dependent on, the due dates of all dependent Tasks will update automatically.

Due Date Dependencies for Individual Tasks

When Adding a Task to a Matter with No Existing Tasks, the "Due in" option will be greyed out.

The due date for this Task will default to today's date. Click in the date field to select a different date.
Once you have added more Tasks to the Matter, you can set the due date of this Task in relation to others by clicking the "Edit" quick link.

When Adding a Task to a Matter with Existing Tasks, the "Due in" option will become available.

  1. Clicking the "Due in" option will allow you to set a due date in relation to other Tasks in the Matter.
  2. Due dates can be assigned a number of "Calendar" or "Business" days "Before" or "After" the Task that you select below.
(Note: Business days refers to Monday through Friday)
  3. In the "Tasks in Matter" area, select a Task in the list that the current Task should come before or after.
Each Task in the list will display its current due date in grey.

  4. The "Task due on" date in grey reflects the calculated due date of the current Task based on the settings that you have established.
