Working with Matters in Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect

Please note that when a Matter is shared via Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect, the Co-Counsel will have access to the Matter details, Client information, a Contacts tab with all of the relationships individuals may have with this Matter, Notes, Time Entries, and Communications.

If your attorney or co-counsel has shared a Matter with you via Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect, you will receive an email that looks like this:

When you click on the 'View matter in secure portal' button, you will be directed to Clio's extranet portal, Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect. Please review this article if you have not yet created a Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect account or want to learn more about the process. Once you log in, you will be able to view the shared Matter.

If you currently have a regular Clio account, you will be directed to your account, from which you can switch into your Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect account.

Upon switching into your Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect account or logging in, you will be able to access the shared Matter by going to the Matters tab where you will see a list of all Matters shared with you by your attorney's firm or your co-counsel.

Once you have selected the Matter you wish to view, you will see some information. Available to you are the Matter details, Client information, a Contacts tab with all of the relationships individuals may have with this Matter, a Notes tab, Time Entries, and Communications.

You can add Notes to the Matter in the Notes sub-tab, add Time Entries to track and record work done on the case, and you can record and send messages via the Communications sub-tab.
