Before you can start receiving credit card payments into your trust accounts, you must ensure that you have a Clio trust account linked to a trust bank account in LawPay. To add another bank account for use with Clio Payments, please see the "Adding, Removing, and Changing Bank Accounts" article.
Once you have created a Trust Request, you can send it to your client for payment via credit card. The steps for sharing a Trust Request is the same as the steps for sharing a revenue bill with the exception that the language will be updated to reflect that you are sharing a Trust Request instead of a bill.

Click the "Pay online now" button will prompt the client to enter their payment information:
They will then have the ability to review the payment information:
After submitting the payment, they will receive a "Submitted" confirmation page:
A confirmation email will then be sent to the customer:
Once a payment has been received on a Trust Request (either by you or by your client), it will appear on the "Clio Payments History" as "Authorized" until the payment processing has completed (about 24 - 48 hours).
While the payment is "Authorized" (before processing has completed), the payment can still be voided. Once the payment has completed, you will no longer be able to void or return those funds.

No, due to compliance rules in many jurisdictions, all payments received via the Trust Request feature must be deposited into a trust account.
When a payment is received on a Trust Request, the full amount will be deposited unaltered to your trust bank account. At the end of the month, any processing fees associated with credit card payments will be deducted from the operating bank account that you have connected to Clio Payments.
While you can choose to only connect a trust account to Clio (via Clio Payments), your LawPay account will still require you to connect an operating account for the purpose of fee payment. For help with setting up an managing your bank accounts in LawPay, please call them directly at 800-459-5798.
