Data escrow refers to the practice of storing data with a neutral third party. The practice applies to custodians of data such as service providers or internet domain registrars. A data escrow service takes deposits of data on a regular basis. The data can be released to rightful owners under certain conditions, and ensures that Clio customers have a backup of their data in an independent location.
