How To Pay a Client's Entire Overdue Balance via Credit Card

Objective:

Environment:

  • Clio Manage

Procedure:

To record that payment yourself:

  1. Click on Create New
  2. Select Record payment
  3. Type the client's name in the Client field
  4. From the "Source" drop-down, select Credit Card
  5. Fill out Payment Date, Destination, and Reference (if applicable)
  6. Enter the amount paid to the firm in the Payment amount field
  7. Optionally, update how the payments are allocated
  8. Click the Billing Information button at the bottom left

To send your Client to pay their entire balance themselves (please note that you will need to link that payment to a specific Client in Clio after they have made the payment):

  1. Navigate to the Bill in question
  2. Click on Send
  3. Select Send via Email and make sure that Accept payment up to the total of all invoices
  4. Click Send bill
  5. When your Client opens the email they receive with this Bill, they will be able to pay off the entire overdue balance themselves.
