Error message: Expired API access token - "The access token provided is expired, revoked, malformed or invalid for other reasons."

Issue:

  • When a request is made using an expired access_token, Clio will respond with a 401 HTTP status code and this error message and description:
"error": "invalid_token",
    "error_description": "The access token provided is expired, revoked, malformed or invalid for other reasons."

Cause:

API access token is expired

Resolution:

  1. POST /oath/token with the grant_type: "refresh_token" using the refresh_token you were given during the initial OAuth authorization process.
