Basic Data Processing Guidelines for Migrations

Objective:

  • Define good data for processing
  • Migration expectations

Environment:

Note: The exact nature of what data we can get depends on what can be exported from your previous software as well as the quality of that data set.

If your data meets these requirements we can process it within the general timeline.

Requirements:

Contacts

    • Has first and last names in separate columns
    • Address in separated into individual columns (Street, City, State, Zip, Country)
    • Phone numbers and emails in separate columns

Matters

    • Has responsible attorney (or it will default to none)
    • Client name which matches a contact above, so it can be linked
    • Matter Number or a unique identifier for time, expenses and/or calendar events to link properly (if these are part of the export)
    • A matter description
    • Open or closed date (will default to the date of import if left empty)
    • The matter status (Open, Pending, Closed)

Time Entries

    • Has assigned user
    • Includes quantity
    • Includes rate
    • Includes date (Will default to the date of import if left empty)
    • Time entry description/Note
    • Matter number or unique identifier to the time entry to a matter

Expense Entries

    • Has assigned user
    • Includes expense price
    • Includes date (Will default to the date of import if left empty)
    • Time entry description/note
    • Matter number or unique identifier to link to a matter

Notes

    • Includes date (Will default to the date of import if left empty)
    • Contact/Company name or matter number (or unique identifier) to link to contacts/company or matters
    • Body of the note

Calendar

    • User/Calendar name
    • Matter number (or unique identifier) to link to a matter if desired
    • Start and end date
    • Start and end time
    • Subject

Tasks

    • User
    • Task name
    • Due date
    • Matter number (or unique identifier) to link to a matter if desired
    • Task status (Complete, Pending)
