Why Does my Client Have a Negative Trust Balance?

Objective:

  • Negative IOLTA balance appearing in Clio
  • Why is it showing a negative amount in Trust for my Client?

Answer:

The most likely reason is that a prior, positive transaction was deleted, leaving a negative balance. Look for where a transaction is missing and add it back by clicking New Transaction.
