How do I Change one Matter Number to be Higher Than Other Matter Numbers Without Affecting Future Matter Numbers?


  • Can I change one Matter's Matter Number higher than others, without having the changer impact future Matter Numbers?

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Practice
  3. Click Matter Numbering
  4. Click Matter Number Override
  5. Type in the Matter Number you want to override 
  6. Type "1" in the new Matter Number field
  7. Click Update
  8. Note down the current Matter Numbering scheme
  9. Open the Select Template drop-down menu
  10. Select Manual for Each Matter
  11. Update Settings
  12. Go to the Matter
  13. Click Edit
  14. Go to the Matter Number field
  15. Manually type the new Matter Number
  16. Click Update Matter
  17. Go to back to Settings > Practice > Matter Numbering
  18. Open the Select Template drop-down menu
  19. Select Standard
  20. Recreate your previous Matter Numbering Scheme
  21. Update Settings
