How to Input Autofill Fields in a PDF Document Template in Clio Grow

Objective:

  • Adding automatically filled fields into a PDF Document Template in Grow

Environment:

  • Clio Grow

Additional Information:

  • Autofill fields for PDF Document Templates include Date Signed, Name, Email, Company, and Title. For more Autofill field options, it is recommended to convert PDF to Word and copy and paste into Clio Text Editor for Document Template creation. The following article provides steps on Creating a Text Editor Template

Procedure:

A New PDF Document

  1. Create a new PDF document template:
      1. Click Documents on the left
      2. Click Templates tab at the top
      3. Click Create New blue button on the top right
      4. Click PDF Template
      5. Add Document template title
      6. Click Choose File to upload a PDF
  2. Fill out the Document Template Builder:
      1. Select the required number of People (Contacts), Companies, Contact Signers and User Signers
      2. Select the required autofill fields from the appropriate fields section
      3. Click Create Template
  3. Edit the template:
    1. Click the Text Box button in the options shown on the left side
    2. Click on the desired location in the document
    3. Click Assigned to dropdown on the right
    4. Choose Sender
    5. Under What text goes here? on the options shown to the right, select the desired autofill field from the dropdown menu, which will include the autofill fields you chose in the previous screen
  4. Click SAVE TEMPLATE at the top right

 

Editing an Existing PDF Document

Note: Only fields that were selected when the document was originally setup can be added to the document. If you would like to add additional fields not initially chosen when setting up the Document Template, you will need to create a new PDF Document Template using the steps above.

  1. On the Document Templates page, click Edit Template beside the template you would like to edit
  2. Click the Text Box button in the options shown on the left side
  3. Click on the desired location in the document
  4. Click Assigned to dropdown on the right
  5. Choose Sender
  6. Under What text goes here? from the options shown on the right, select the desired autofill field from the dropdown menu, which will include the autofill fields you chose in the previous screen
  7. Click SAVE TEMPLATE at the top right
