Is the QuickBooks Online Sync Bi-Directional?

Objective:

  • QuickBooks Online Integration both ways?
  • What Information syncs from QuickBooks Online to Clio?

Environment:

  • Clio Manage
  • QuickBooks Online

Additional Information:

  • n/a

Answer:

The sync with QuickBooks Online is primarily a one-way sync. Clients with an approved Bill, Payments, and Credit Notes will be synced from Clio to QuickBooks Online, but not the other way around.

Using the Hard Cost Importer, Hard Cost Expenses will import into Clio from QuickBooks Online as a Hard Cost Expense. Hard Cost Expenses created in Clio will not sync into QuickBooks Online. For more information on Clio's Hard Cost Import functionality, click here.

The only exception to the above rule is contacts. The bi-directional sync with QuickBooks Online for Contacts is limited to editing an existing contact. If you edit a contact in Quickbooks Online, the change will sync into Clio. However, a new contact created in QuickBooks Online will not be synced to Clio.
