How do I Import my Contact List From Clio Manage Into Clio Grow?

Objective:

  • Export Contacts from Clio Manage and move them into Clio Grow

  • Add Contact details to the spreadsheet template from Clio Manage
  • Populate Contact information from Clio Manage into CSV for import into Clio Grow

Environment:

Additional Information:

  • Sync your Custom Fields from Clio Manage to Clio Grow before completing the steps in this article 
  • The Clio ID in the Manage Export is required to link your Contacts from Clio Manage to Clio Grow
  • We only recommend importing your Contacts into Grow. Importing Matters will lead to duplicates in Manage, and there is currently no way to import Related Contacts to a Matter in Grow.
  • Data cannot be inputed into custom fields of the following types:
    Picklist/dropdown, checkbox, contact select

Procedure:

Phase 1: Export your Contact List from Manage

  1. Open the Clio Manage Exports page:
    • For North American accounts, click here
    • For European accounts, click here
  2. Click Excel Ready CSV next to Contacts

Phase 2: Reformat your Spreadsheet for Grow

  1. Open the CSV file in Excel
  2. Delete rows for contacts that you don't want to bring over
  3. Use the instructions in this article and the attached file to reformat the sheet
  4. Save the Document

Phase 3: Import Contacts into Grow

  1. In Clio Grow, go to the Settings
  2. Click on the Import Data tab
  3. Select Import From Spreadsheet
  4. Choose and upload the import file
  5. Map the fields in the spreadsheet to the corresponding Clio Grow fields using the drop-down menu
  6. Click Import Contacts when ready
  7. Wait for the file to process
  8. Review the contacts that were imported
  9. Click Done when ready to finalize the import
