Can I Change a Contact's Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect Email?

  • Can I edit a Contact's Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect Email?
  • Can I change the login email address of a Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect account if the client has no access to his email?

If there are any associated Online payments/Credit Card payments received under the old contact, those payments won't reflect within the invoices or outstanding balances in the matter once you delete and add the new contact as those payments are captured at the contact level.

Answer:

No, when a Firm edits a Contact if the "Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect email" box is greyed out, it means that the email is associated with an active Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect account. When this occurs, only the Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect User will be able to change their "Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect email".

Alternatively, the firm can delete the existing contact and create a new one. Deleting the contact will deactivate the Clio for Co-Counsel / Clio Connect account. To do so, please follow the instructions here.

If there are any associated Online payments/Credit Card payments received under the old contact towards any of the invoices, please follow the below steps:

  • Contact us to unlink the online payment received from the old contact.
  • Once unlinked, re-record those payments under those invoices in the matter as a direct payment by following the steps here.
