How to Create a "Self-Signing" PDF Template in Clio Grow


  • To create a reusable document template which will automatically have the signature of someone at my firm on it once it's generated

Additional Information:



  1. In Clio Grow, click Documents on the left-hand side of the screen
  2. At the top of the screen, click Template Editor
  3. In the Template Editor, click on the Create New Template button in the top-right
  4. Choose the PDF Template option
  5. Under the HelloSign Settings section of the Template Editor, select the "No" option for the question "Will this document be e-signed by at least one contact"
  6. In the PDF template preview:
    1. Add a Signature block anywhere in the template and select "User Signer 1" for Assigned to"
      Note: This will not be visible in the completed PDF copy when downloaded or printed
    2. Add the desired Contact and/or Matter data fields to be merged (optional)
  7. Click Continue
