What Happens To Time Entries When You Change a Matter’s Billing Status Between Billable And Non-Billable?

Matters with hourly billing:

  • Non-billable to billable:
    • You have the option to bulk edit time entries on that matter to billable or keep them as non-billable
  • Billable to non-billable:
    • Time entries will be made non-billable

Matters with flat rate or contingency fee billing:

  • Non-billable to billable:
    • When the time entry that is automatically generated at matter creation has not been invoiced (or if the invoice has been voided), non-billable flat rate/contingency matters are modifiable to become billable
    • Hourly time entries on the matter remain non-billable (but can be edited manually), and the flat rate entry is changed to unbilled
  • Billable to non-billable:
    • When the time entry that is automatically generated at matter creation has not been invoiced (or if the invoice has been voided), billable flat rate/contingency matters are modifiable to become non-billable
    • Time entries will be made non-billable
