How to Install Clio Launcher and Set-Up the ScanSnap Integration

Clio Launcher is replacing Clio Uploader as the integration point between Clio and ScanSnap. To avoid disruption, please install Clio Launcher and connect it to ScanSnap by following the steps below before December 20, 2019.

Procedure

First install Clio Launcher:

The Clio Launcher needs to be installed once on each computer you want to use it on. After that, it will run in the background and will be available whenever you want to open a document from Clio.

To install Clio Launcher, follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to Clio at app.clio.com
  2. Go to the Documents page and locate a document.
  3. Click on the external link icon next to the document filename.

  4. A popup is displayed. Click the installation link for your operating system (Mac or PC).

  5. Locate the downloaded installation file and begin the installation.

  6. Once the installation is complete, return to the Documents page in Clio.
  7. Click the external link icon next to a document.
  8. A Clio Launcher "Sign In" popup is displayed. Enter your login credentials to authorize Clio Launcher.

Next, connect Clio Launcher to ScanSnap by following the appropriate steps below depending on if you are a ScanSnap Home or ScanSnap Manager user: 

For ScanSnap Home Users - Instructions for connecting Clio Launcher to ScanSnap Home:

  1. Add Clio Launcher to ScanSnap Home Application List by following these steps:
    1. Open ScanSnap Home and click the blue Scan button in the top left corner.
    2. Click the Plus button to add a new profile

    3. Scroll down to Application, click Clio Launcher, and click Add to complete the installation

    4. Note: Each user will need to add a separate profile on Scansnap Home.

For ScanSnap Manager users - Instructions for connecting Clio Launcher to ScanSnap Manager (PC):

  1. Open Scansnap Manager
  2. Click Settings or Scan Button Settings... (if you click on the ScanSnap icon on the bottom right)
  3. If the Quick Menu is selected, de-select it
  4. Under the Profile dropdown click Add Profile
  5. Name your profile (i.e. Scan to Clio), and click OK
  6. Select the Application tab
  7. Click Add or Remove
  8. Click Browse
  9. Find the Application file
    1. Ensure that Hidden Files are visible (see here)
    2. Open an Explorer window 
    3. Click on C: 
    4. Click on Users
    5. Select the active User on the PC
    6. Click AppData
    7. Click Local
    8. Click Clio Launcher
    9. Select cliolauncher.exe (Clio icon)
    10. Click Okay
  10. Name the application (i.e. Clio Launcher)
  11. Click OK to return to the "Add/Remove" window
  12. Click Close
  13. In the ScanSnap Manager, under the Application tab, select Clio Launcher from the dropdown
  14. Click Apply
  15. Left-click the ScanSnap Manager icon and Scan to Clio
  16. Put the paper you wish to scan in the scanner according to the instructions
  17. Press the scanner button to start a scan

For ScanSnap Manager users - Instructions for connecting Clio Launcher to ScanSnap Manager (Mac):

Note for Mac users: macOS Catalina users with scanner models S1500, S1500M, or S1300 will be unable to use the Fujitsu ScanSnap integration as Fujitsu ScanSnap has ended support of ScanSnap Manager on Catalina OS. Mac users with scanner models S1500, S1500M, or S1300 can continue to use this integration by not upgrading to Catalina OS or by upgrading to a newer model scanner.

  1. Open Scansnap Manager
  2. Click Settings
  3. If the Quick Menu is selected, de-select it
  4. Under the Profile dropdown click Add Profile
  5. Name your profile (i.e. Scan to Clio), and click OK
  6. Select the Application tab
  7. Click Add or Remove
  8. Click Browse
  9. Find the Application file (this can sometimes be found under a hidden folder)
  10. Name the application (i.e. Clio Launcher)
  11. Click OK to return to the "Add/Remove" window
  12. Click Close
  13. In the ScanSnap Manager, under the Application tab, select Clio Launcher from the dropdown
  14. Click Apply
  15. Left-click the ScanSnap Manager icon and Scan to Clio
  16. Put the paper you wish to scan in the scanner according to the instructions
  17. Press the scanner button to start a scan
