When Does Clio Merge Contacts Between Google/Office 365 and Clio?

Objective:

  • Google/O365 initial contact sync combines two people
  • Will Clio create duplicates of my Contacts when I sync with Google/Office 365?
  • What is considered when creating a new Contact or merging to an existing Contact with the Office365/Google sync?

Environment:

  • Clio Manage
  • Office 365
  • Google Contacts

Additional Information:

If any of the fields listed below differ in any way, Clio will import the Contact from Office 365/Google, and export the Contact from Clio to Office 365/Google, resulting in two Contacts being created.

Answer:

When an initial sync is completed, Clio will merge two Contacts if their First Name, Last Name, and Email Address are identical between Clio and either Office 365 or Google.
