We recommend prior to sending the Migrations Team your data that you review your data. The reason we suggest this is because Clio's Migration Team will not clean your data. If the data was wrongly inputted in the previous system it will appear in Clio in that format. We do not remove duplicate. This table details key areas you should look for in your data.

|Contacts||First Name, Last Name, and Company Name||Make sure the proper data is in the right column for example that phone numbers aren't in an email address field|
Matter Status (Open, Pending, Closed), Matter Custom Number, Matter Description, Client
Make sure that the Matter Description isn't blank otherwise your matter will be assigned a description during the import. Make sure Matters have an assigned Client otherwise, they will be assigned to an Unknown Client during the import process.
We also recommend that you update the Status to Open, Pending, or Closed.
|Activities||Date, Quantity, Rate, User||
Make sure your time entries have an assigned user otherwise they will not import.
If you would like to import data for a user that won't be added to the clip account you Migrations Representative can help you with this
|Calendar Appointments||Calendar Summary, Start Date, Start Time, End Date, End Time, Destination/ User Calendar||
We highly recommend making sure that your Events have exported correctly by picking four or five events in the past and in the future to make sure court dates and scheduled meetings are all included.
|Contact Notes||Date, Subject and Note Detail||Without a Contact or Company name, these notes will not import make sure there are no missing names. If there are missing names then the notes will not be imported|
|Matter Notes||Date, Subject, Matter and Note Detail||Without a Matter Number, these notes will not import make sure there are no blank numbers. If there are blank Matter numbers then the notes will not be imported|
|Related Contacts||Matter, First Name, Last Name, Company Name||Review the Matter column in this sheet and ensure there is Matter for each relationship otherwise the|
|Tasks||Status (Pending, In-progress, complete), Task Name, Due Date, Assigned User||
Make sure any tasks that don't have an assigned user are updated with a user.
If you choose not to import them you can remove them from the data, or confirm this with your Migration Specialist and they can remove this information for you
|Balance Forward||Balance, User, Date||
It is very important to make sure that you review the balances that were exported from your previous system to make sure they are the correct value.
If there are multiple columns with outstanding amounts identify which amount is to be imported and inform the migration specialist
