When Setting Up QuickBooks, What Do I Put in the Products and Services for Tax if We Do Not Charge Tax for Legal Services?

Objective:

  • We do not charge tax for legal services, but I have to enter something in the Tax spot
  • I'm setting up QuickBooks and it is asking me to add Tax info but we do not tax legal services
  • How do I bypass the Tax Products and Services if we do not charge tax?

Environment:

  • Clio Manage
  • Quickbooks Online

Answer:

This is just to tell QuickBooks Online how to categorize Tax/Secondary Tax if you did receive taxes. If you do not charge taxes for legal services, it won't matter what you enter here, since it will not be used, therefore, nothing will ever get sent over from Clio to QuickBooks Online as a tax.
