Unable to Use Clio Grow Email Sync with Different Email Address if Using Outlook

Issue:

  • Can't sync different email address in Grow 
  • Outlook won't let me sync different email address from my login email
  • Status 403 when syncing Email in Grow
  • Office 365 returned different email address that started authentication process
  • Error 403 Email Sync

Environment:

  • Clio Grow

Additional Information:

  • You are unable to sync with a different email address from your login email if you use Outlook, to work around this you will need to temporarily change your login email to the one you'll be syncing, set up the sync then change login email back:

Resolution:

  1. Navigate to Settings in Clio Grow
  2. Choose Personal
  3. Click the button Edit User Info
  4. Enter the Email Address that you'll be syncing with Grow
  5. Click Update
  6. Go to your new email's inbox and search for an email titled "Clio Grow: Please confirm your login email change"
  7. Click the Confirm Email button in the confirmation email.
  8. Log into Clio Grow to complete the email change.
  9. Go to the Settings page
  10. Click on the Email & Calendar Sync tab
  11. Click Sync Email
  12. Follow the steps on the authentication page to connect with your email account
    1. Enter the email credentials
    2. Click Allow to authorize Clio Grow to Sync to your Email & Calendar
  13. Once the connection is established, you should see a checkmark next to the Synced field in your email settings
  14. Navigate to Settings in Clio Grow
  15. Choose Personal
  16. Click the button Edit User Info
  17. Enter the original Email Address you would like as your Clio Grow Login Email
  18. Click Update
  19. Go to your new email's inbox and search for an email titled "Clio Grow: Please confirm your login email change"
  20. Click the Confirm Email button in the confirmation email.
  21. Log into Clio Grow to complete the email change
