Understanding Transactions for Bills via Direct Payment

Objective:

  • Understanding Transactions for Bills via Direct Payment

Environment:

  • Clio Manage

Additional Information:

  • n/a

Answer:

When Bills are paid using the Direct Payment as the Source, there will be two transactions shown. The reason why two transactions is because the funds must be added to your firm to pay the bill followed by the funds being taken out to show that it was earned.

For example - If receiving a Cash or Cheque payment for a bill in person, The money is added to the till of your firm to pay the bill. This would be Funds in. Now in order for you to consider those funds to have been earned, the funds for that bill payment are then taken out from the cash register and deposited into your bank account (Funds out). Essentially Clio from this perspective is the cash register.
