What is the Difference Between Share to Client Portal and Share with Contacts When Sharing a Document with a Client?

Share to client portal:

  • Multiple access points - allows for sharing of a document through the Clio for Clients portal site at and your clients can access the document through the Clio for Clients application on their mobile devices
  • Sign up - does not require customers to sign up for an account

Share with contacts:

  • Single access point - a client or a Co-Counsel can access their documents/messages through only
  • Sign up - prompts clients to sign up for a free Clio for Co-Counsel account where they can access their messages/documents/matters or use the Email with a secure link option, which allows clients to receive an email notification with a secure link to download a document.
